Marketplace Acceptable Use Policy
Rules for safe, lawful and trustworthy use of the TellMe marketplace
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This Marketplace Acceptable Use Policy applies to every buyer, vendor, merchant, affiliate and other person who accesses or uses TellMe's website, applications, marketplace, payment features, communications or related services. It forms part of the TellMe Terms & Conditions.
1. Accurate identity and account information
Users must provide accurate, complete and current information. Vendors must provide the identification, business, contact, bank and beneficial-ownership information requested by TellMe and must promptly update any change. Users may not impersonate another person, submit forged or altered documents, conceal beneficial ownership, create accounts for prohibited persons, or allow another person to misuse their account.
2. Prohibited products and services
Users must not list, advertise, sell, purchase or facilitate:
- illegal, stolen, fraudulently obtained, smuggled or sanctioned goods;
- counterfeit goods or products that infringe copyright, trademark, patent, privacy or other third-party rights;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives or items designed primarily to cause harm, except where expressly lawful and approved in writing by TellMe;
- controlled drugs, narcotics, illegal substances, prescription medicines or regulated medical products offered without required authorisation;
- unsafe, recalled, expired, adulterated, materially mislabelled or prohibited food, cosmetics, health or consumer products;
- pornographic or exploitative material, sexual content involving minors, trafficking, hate material or content that promotes violence or unlawful discrimination;
- gambling, unlicensed financial services, pyramid schemes, deceptive investments or services intended to launder, conceal or transfer unlawful proceeds;
- personal data, payment credentials, government documents, accounts, access devices or digital assets that the seller is not legally entitled to transfer; or
- any other product or activity prohibited by Nigerian law, payment-network rules, logistics restrictions, or a written TellMe policy.
3. Listing and product standards
Listings must be truthful and must accurately describe the product, condition, quantity, price, origin, seller, warranty and delivery limitations. Vendors may not use misleading photographs, fabricated reviews, hidden charges, unavailable bait listings, false discounts, manipulated product identities or unsubstantiated claims. Required licences, approvals, safety information and authenticity evidence must be supplied on request.
4. Fraud, payments and platform misuse
Users must not engage in payment fraud, card testing, money laundering, collusion, account takeover, chargeback abuse, fabricated orders, self-dealing, transaction splitting, refund abuse, artificial sales, review manipulation, fee avoidance or attempts to move a marketplace transaction off-platform to evade safeguards. TellMe payment, refund, wallet, balance and payout features must not be used to conceal the source of funds or transfer value for an unrelated purpose.
5. Safety, communications and data
Users must not threaten, harass, deceive or abuse customers, vendors, staff or delivery personnel. Users must not introduce malware, scrape protected information, bypass security controls, interfere with the service or misuse personal data obtained through TellMe. Customer information may be used only to fulfil the relevant order and comply with legal obligations.
6. Vendor responsibility
Vendors are responsible for the legality, authenticity, quality and safety of their products; accurate inventory and fulfilment; required taxes, licences and records; responding to complaints; and cooperating with returns, refunds, recalls, investigations and law-enforcement requests. Vendors must not list a product until they can lawfully supply it.
7. Monitoring and enforcement
TellMe may review listings, transactions, communications and verification records; request documents or product samples; delay a listing or payout while a review is underway; remove content; cancel or refund an order; restrict features; suspend or terminate an account; preserve evidence; and report suspected unlawful activity to payment partners, regulators or law-enforcement authorities. Action may be taken immediately where necessary to protect users, comply with law or manage fraud and safety risk.
8. Reporting a violation
Report suspected prohibited products, fraud, counterfeiting, intellectual-property infringement or unsafe conduct to info@tellme.ng with the listing URL, order number and supporting information. TellMe will review reports and may request additional evidence.
9. Policy changes
TellMe may update this policy to reflect changes in law, marketplace risk or payment-network requirements. Material updates will be published on this page. Continued use of TellMe after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
