Description
When you attach it to a compatible iPhone without plugging into a charger, it provides about 7.5 W of wireless charging (after firmware update).
When plugged into a 20 W (or stronger) power adapter, it can route 15 W of wireless charging through itself to the iPhone.
It supports reverse wireless charging: when the iPhone is plugged in and receiving power, the MagSafe Battery Pack can recharge itself wirelessly from the iPhone.
In real-world tests, it does not fully charge larger iPhones. For instance:
-
On a completely drained iPhone 12, it might bring it up to ~60%
-
On an iPhone 12 mini, it may reach ~78%
-
On larger models (e.g. “Pro Max”), coverage might be closer to ~40–50%
It’s well suited for top-up charging / emergency boosts rather than replacing your main charger.
Because wireless charging is less efficient (energy is lost as heat), it won’t be as power-efficient as wired charging.
Heat is a limiting factor: if the phone or pack gets warm, charging may be throttled to protect components and battery health.
